Our Story

Our Story
Rocky Mountain Honey’s roots trace back to 1992, when Ed Gorder founded Gorder’s Honey in Blackfoot, Idaho with a simple mission: deliver honest, high-quality honey to local communities. In 2015, the company entered its next chapter when David Dance—a third-generation bee enthusiast—acquired the business. By 2017, it was proudly reintroduced as Rocky Mountain Honey and relocated to Idaho Falls, Idaho.
David’s connection to honey goes far beyond bottling. He is deeply embedded in the beekeeping world, actively managing hives and supporting agriculture through vital pollination services. Through his company, Beaverhead Honey Company, with operations in Dillon, Montana and Ucon, Idaho, David partners with farmers across the region by renting hives that help boost crop yields where native pollinators alone cannot meet demand. These bees play a critical role in pollinating crops ranging from alfalfa and canola to apples, citrus, and more.
Rocky Mountain Honey proudly sources its raw honey from Beaverhead Honey Company and a trusted network of beekeepers throughout Idaho, Utah, and Montana. For more than 20 years, we’ve been a leader in wholesale honey pricing, supplying premium honey to retailers, bakers, and food producers across the Intermountain West.
Our honey is gently warmed—never overheated—and lightly screened, not filtered, to remove natural debris while preserving the enzymes, pollens, and nutrients that make raw honey exceptional. Every jar is bottled in its purest form, delivering a USA Grade A product you can trust.
Today, Rocky Mountain Honey can be found on top shelves at Albertson’s, Broulim’s, WinCo, and other regional retailers throughout Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, and Utah. Whether you’re discovering us for the first time or have enjoyed our honey for years, we’re grateful for your support and proud to share what we do best: high-quality, local honey—straight from the hive to your table.
